Arrested made in the illegal sale and distribution of crack cocaine and marijuana

The Cottondale Police Department, Graceville Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office concluded two ongoing investigations into the illegal sale and distribution of crack cocaine and marijuana.

One drug organization was located in Marianna, Florida and believed to be headed by Michael T. Bell of Marianna. On Thursday, January 24, 2013 a search warrant was served at Bell’s residence located at 2857 Glenn Street, Marianna, Florida.

Entry was made into the residence where contact was made with Michael Termaine Bell, Lamont Kinte Rhynes, and Ja’versse Dres’montreh Malcolm. Bell, Rhynes and Malcolm were all detained without incident. Gary J. Davis Jr. was located as the residence was cleared attempting to conceal crack cocaine in one of the bedroom’s. Davis resisted officer’s commands and had to be forcefully subdued. A search of the residence revealed several containers of crack cocaine, marijuana, digital scales and plastic bags consistent with the packaging and distribution of both crack cocaine and marijuana. Located within the residence were a .22 caliber revolver and two .32 caliber revolvers. A search of the residence also produced over $2000.00 US Currency.

a maldolnJa’versse Dres’montreh Malcolm, 20, of Marianna, Florida, was placed under arrest for Possession of Crack Cocaine w/ Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana w/ Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Davis Jr., 17, of Marianna, Florida, was placed under arrest for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Crack Cocaine w/ Intent to Distribute, Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Davis, although, under age 18, is charged in this case as an adult.

As Law Enforcement arrived contact was made with Sandra Kay Morris, who was departing the Bell’s residence. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Morris had purchased a quantity of marijuana from the residence and was departing upon arrival of Law Enforcement. Morris was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana, less than 20 grams.

All five individuals were transported to and housed in the Jackson County Jail to await First Appearance on their respective charges.

The second investigation occurred in Graceville, Florida. Beginning in June 2012, the Jackson County Drug Task Force began a series of undercover purchases of marijuana from Earnest Lidell Young and Andrae Lanoris Young, from their residence located at 877 8th Avenue, Graceville, Florida.

As a result of those investigations, a search warrant was obtained for and served on the Young residence on July 31, 2012. During that search warrant approximatley 16.5 pounds of compressed marijuana was located along with digital scales and packaging material for the distribution of marijuana. Also located during the search warrant was Hydrocodone containing medication that was packaged consistent with illegal distribution. Also seized during the warrant was approximately  $1670.00 US Currency believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales and a highly customized Chevrolet Caprice belonging to Andrae Young.

Andrae, Earnest and Benitrez Young were all three placed under arrest on that date for Possession of Marijuana w/ Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Upon posting bond and being released from the Jackson Count Jail on August 5, 2012 the Jackson County Drug Task Force began receiving information that Earnest and Andre Young had returned to the illegal marijuana enterprise and were again selling drugs from their residence.

Since their release from jail another series of undercover purchases of marijuana were made from Earnest Young from his residence located at 877 8th Avenue in Graceville, Florida. Again a search warrant was obtained for the residence and was executed on Friday, January 25, 2013. During the search warrant contact was made with Andrae Young. He was placed under arrest for Sale of a Controlled Substance, Marijuana. A search of the residence revealed further evidence on the Young brother’s marijuana distribution enterprise.

Earnest Young was not present at the time of the search warrant and has not been located as of the time of this press release. Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Earnest Young in Jackson County, Florida on (5) counts of Sale of a Controlled Substance, Marijuana.

Andrae Young, 30, of Graceville, Florida was transported to and housed in the Jackson County Jail.

In a third and separate case, an undercover investigation was conducted with Lynwood Bruce Garrett, being the target of that investigation. During the past months, the Jackson County Drug Task Force was able to purchase a quantity of powder cocaine from Garrett. A warrant has been issued for Garrett’s arrest in Jackson County, Florida.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office also seeks a fourth individual on an outstanding warrant for Obtaining a Prescription Through Fraud. In November 2012, Erin Elizabeth Murray, of Chattahoochee, Florida obtained a prescription for Hydrocodone containing medication from a doctor. Murray in turn altered the quantity of the prescription and attempted to pass it at a local pharmacy.

A special thanks to the Cottondale and Graceville Police Departments and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement with their efforts during these investigations. During the course of these investigations, it has been determined that these individuals are responsible for substantial quantities of marijuana and cocaine in the communities of Jackson County.
